As part of its 2026 Annual General and Scientific Meeting (AGSM) Pre-Conference Outreach, the Society of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists of Ghana (SOGOG), in collaboration with AGA Health Foundation, AngloGold Ashanti, and the Ghana Health Service, will provide free gynaecological screening and surgeries for women in and around Obuasi this July.
The outreach forms part of SOGOG’s commitment to extending quality specialist healthcare beyond the conference by bringing essential services directly to communities. Through this initiative, women will have access to specialist consultations, screening, and free surgical care for selected gynaecological conditions.
Conditions to be managed include:
- •Fibroids
- •Ovarian cysts
- •Genital prolapses
- •Genital masses
- •Other gynaecological conditions requiring surgery
Screening Schedule
Women are invited to attend the screening sessions on:
- •Friday, 10th – Saturday, 11th July 2026
- •Friday, 17th – Saturday, 18th July 2026
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Surgery Dates
Eligible patients identified during the screening will undergo free surgeries on:
- •Friday, 24th July 2026
- •Saturday, 25th July 2026
- •Sunday, 26th July 2026
Venue: AGA Health Foundation, Obuasi
Participants are kindly requested to bring their Ghana Card and NHIS Card for registration.
SOGOG encourages women experiencing symptoms such as heavy menstrual bleeding, persistent pelvic pain, abdominal swelling, or other gynaecological concerns to take advantage of this opportunity for specialist assessment and treatment. Early diagnosis and timely intervention can significantly improve health outcomes and quality of life.
